Cover featured in the Special Abstract Issue of Painters Tubes magazine, edited by Denis Taylor and with an editorial of 'My Own Words' at the Abstract: Then & Now web version. The magazine featured many peer artists and influencers from this and last century including Soulages, De Steel, Hartung, De Kooning, Pollock, and amongst others John Walker that as a student was large on the scene. In addition to this exposure of my work in print, two other publications both from Collect Art, Tbilisi, Georgia featured my work and interview in the Winter Issue 2022 and in the book publication '101 Contemporary Artists, and More", a three year anniversary book publication.

2022 saw production of five medium sized canvases 70 x 90 cm, reworked stretchers from lockdown 2020 paintings, with new canvas, plus a series of works on paper continuing into 2023, two large acrylic paintings and one large oil painting (larger in next post). Further experimentation with mediums and varnishes were continued here with an increased freedom in the application of paint particularly in the area of non contact paint application. Very long bristled, short handled brushes were used here two give a flowing linear application of paint (actually sign writing brushes) that also give a flick and quiver when loaded with pouring paint that increase the fragmentation, movement and action of application. Liquitex pouring medium remains the main stay medium for colour here.

Acrylic on paper

I continue to enjoy the freedom of working on paper. One cannot help but be slightly apprehensive when starting a new blank canvas yet with paper this is eased and a more immediate, 'lets just get on with it' approach is present. These are made on stretched 250 gram Seawight cartridge and the edges are an issue as the work will be cropped for framing, if presented. I found that close cropping helps. When painting to the edge or cropping to the edge (less white paper) there is a more unified pictorial space and satisfactory perimeter to the image.
